DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On 07/02/17 female patient (A), in her 20s, and female patient (B), in her 40s, were invovled in a physical altercation.
The facility conducted an internal investigation and notified the police. The patients were roommates. Staff heard yelling and went into the room. The patients were yelling and lunging at each other. Both were holding handles off of broken plastic patient cups. Staff separated them. Both patients were assessed. Patient (A) had scratches on her chin, forearm and nose. Patient (B) had a small scratch on his chin and left cheek. The injuries were cleaned. Neurological checks were initiated and were within normal limits. Both patients were offered Tylenol for pain and both refused. Patient (B) was moved to another room and both patients were placed on peer restriction and assault precautions. Patient (A) admitted to being the aggressor in this incident. Patient (B) continued to be aggressive toward peers and staff and was regressed to a high security unit.
