DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On 01/04/17 male patient (B), in his 50s, reported male patient (A) touched him inappropriately. Patient (A) was in his 30s.
The facility conducted an internal investigation and notified the police. The patients were in the dining room. Patient (A) walked past the table of patient (B). Patient (A) was on peer restriction from patient (B). As he walked past the table he touched patient (B)'s buttocks. Patient (A) was escorted back to the unit and placed on dining room restriction. There was no injury to patient (B). Patient (A) was later moved to another unit for his safety due to his continued attempts to engage patient (B).
The Department reviewed the facility's report and supplemental documentation and found that the facility acted appropriately by reporting the occurrence, notifying the appropriate persons and agencies and conducting an investigation.
The Department will review this occurrence prior to the next survey. The summary findings were based on the information provided by the facility at the time of the Department review.
