DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On 12/09/15 a male patient, in his 40s, eloped.
The facility conducted an internal investigation and notified the police, physician and the court. The patient was on a court-approved community program and failed to show up for an appointment. Also, the patient failed to abstain from drug use and tested positive for marijuana, constituting non-compliance with his contract. The patient had a diagnosis of mental illness with a history of substance abuse. Early on the morning of 12/10/15, the patient was found, transferred and admitted into the in-patient facility. The pass privileges were temporarily revoked.
The Department reviewed the facility's report and supplemental documentation and found that the facility acted appropriately by reporting the occurrence, notifying the appropriate persons and agencies, conducting an investigation, transferring the patient to the in-patient facility and temporarily revoking the patient's pass privileges.
The Department will review this occurrence prior to the next survey.
