DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On 11/18/15 male patient (A), in his 60s, hit male patient (B), who was in his 30s.

FACILITY ACTION:
The facility conducted an internal investigation. The facility notified security and the physician. Tthe two patients had a disagreement over seating. Patient (A) then hit patient (B). Staff separated the residents. Patient (B) complained of pain in his lower jaw. Nursing assessed patient (B) and there were no obvious signs of injury except for his complaint of pain. Tylenol was administered. Patient (B) did not report being fearful. Patient (A) was placed on Assault II precautions.

DEPARTMENT FINDINGS:
The Department reviewed the facility's report and found that the facility acted appropriately by reporting the occurrence, notifying the appropriate persons and agencies, separating the patients, assessing the patients, providing Tylenol to patient (B) for pain and implementing Assault II precautions.

The Department will review this occurrence prior to any survey or upon receipt of any complaint that may be filed against this facility.
