DESCRIPTION OF OCCURRENCE:
On 07/21/15 a staff member reported medications were missing for 2 male patients, both in their 60s.
The facility conducted an internal investigation. The facility notified the Pharmacy Board and police. The missing medications were 7 tablets of Vesicare and 7 tablets of Demopressin. Both medications were prescribed for urinary issues. The medications were kept in a locked medication cart in a secured medication room. The facility conducted an investigation but was not able to determine what happened to the medications.
The Department reviewed the facility's report and supplemental documentation and found that the facility acted appropriately by reporting the occurrence, notifying the appropriate persons and agencies and conducting an investigation.
The Department will review this occurrence prior to any survey or upon receipt of any complaint that may be filed against this facility.
